There are many reasons brands may include it on some packaging and not on others. But stating it on the packaging (or not) doesn’t mean that a brand is, or is not, cruelty-free. For most, it’s simply a design choice. I would let them know your concerns and that, as a consumer, you’d like to see it on all their packaging.

I have two eyeliner pencils and one says cruelty free and one doesn’t. Why not have it on all of their products. It gives me a weird feeling like they are trying to get away with something. Maybe I am just being crazy but it is strange that some of their products say it and some don’t.

”Most of our products are but a few do have animal derived ingredients and/or could contain gluten, unfortunately as of yet we do not have the details of what specific products they are.”

Their website doesn’t have the full ingredients list, and their products aren’t available to by in the UK (without buying from the website) so effectively we have no way of knowing the ingredients with out purchasing first! 🙁

I can’t check ingredients ’cause NYX isn’t available in Australia besides websites.

Hi Katie,

I had read that about NYX too. I asked them about it specifically, even copying the text.

The reply they sent me had a legal disclosure so I can’t copy and paste it but I will say that they weren’t happy those things were being said about their brand and that they do not believe it was actually sent from an internal source within NYX.

Again, this is just my summary of their reply to me. I cannot legally share their exact response. But I am inclined to believe that the statement going around is simply a rumor.

Cause I read that they wrote this to someone else yesterday:

…while we do not currently sell our products in China, they are currently available from third parties in limited distribution. As we continue to expand our business internationally, we are aware that some countries require that local labs perform tests on animals as a prerequisite to give permission for products to be sold within their countries and we actively support efforts underway to change these practices.
