Cruelty-Free Brands at Target
This list of cruelty-free brands at Target will help make shopping easier for you!
One of the most common requests that I receive is asking for a list of cruelty-free brands that are available at major chains like Target. With so many locations, Target is a chain that is easily accessible to a lot of people. You can order from them online and have it shipped to your home, or brought to you through a delivery service. Target also carries cruelty-free brands at a variety of price points too. Because they carry such a huge variety of products, this cruelty-free list is also able to extend beyond the beauty section of the store. It covers makeup, skincare, haircare, and even household products too.
This list of cruelty-free brands at Target can help consumers make better choices when shopping here. Because Target carries such a large variety of items, this list extends beyond beauty products. It also includes cruelty-free brands that sell household items, such as cruelty-free cleaning supplies.

All of the brands listed here are the cruelty-free brands at Target. They are free of animal testing and they all also have vegan options. Just as with the Cruelty-Free Brand List, it is noted next to a brand if they are cruelty-free but are owned by a company that tests on animals. It is also noted if they are not just cruelty-free, but are also a 100% vegan brand.
Cruelty-Free Brands at Target:
To make this list easier to shop, and as requested by readers, I have split it up into categories by product type. Some brands may appear in multiple categories. For example, many brands that make skincare also make hair products too. Hopefully this helps make your cruelty-free shopping at Target easier!

The following brands make household products, such as cleaners, essential oils, hand sanitizer, and multi-use soaps.

- Aura Cacia
- Dr. Bronner’s

- Everyone
- J.R. Watkins
- Mrs. Meyers – It should be noted that they are cruelty-free, but their parent company is not.

Unfortunately, Target also carries a lot of brands that are not cruelty-free. Some of these brands even claim to be cruelty-free on product pages on the Target website. Some examples of this are L’Oreal, Aveeno, Aussie, Batiste, Herbal Essences, Maui Moisture, OGX, Simple, Sally Hansen, Wet n Wild, Physicians Formula, and Love Beauty and Planet. Sadly, Target’s own house line Up & Up is not cruelty-free either.

Now if only they weren’t made in China where we have no way of knowing if the workers get a fair wage for those inexpensive products (not that I am ungrateful to you, thanks for the list!). Just on my mind having purchased elf for the first time and wondering about the mica controversy etc. Awareness is an amazing thing.
i also like Seah moisture, esp it’s curl cream and eczema cream. I know it’s not tested on animals and also assuming vegan…as I read through ingredient label.
Thanks for suggesting this brand! I haven’t looked into them before, which is why they don’t appear on the list. I’ve just sent them an inquiry and have added them to the pending brands list. Please check back in the future to see what list they are on. This will depend on how fast I hear back from them.
Great list, but you left off S.W. Basics. They just launched on Target online 🙂
I didn’t know that. How amazing! I’m adding them to the list now.
Soapbox Soaps are also 100% vegan and cruelty free.
Thanks for suggesting them, Leslie! I haven’t yet talked to them so I reached out. They have been added to the Pending Brands section of the Cruelty Free & Vegan Brand List.
Thanks for the list! I have also seen Alba and Jason at a number of Target locations.
Really? I’m so jealous! I wish the Targets near me carried them! I just added them to this list. 🙂
I love/live/work at Target and I’ve definitely loved discovering their vegan brands. I love Pacifica but opt for NYX when I can’t afford the higher-priced Pacifica cosmetics 😉

I didn’t realize until just recently that Target had e.l.f. stuff. I picked up a bunch of stuff but my favorite is their precision liquid liner. Love it.
They also carry Alba Botanica, Avalon Organics, Giovanni, The Honest Company, Jason Naturals, Kiss My Face, Mineral Fusion, Nourish Organic, Own, Paul Mitchell, Shea Moisture and Weleda! 🙂
Wow. It sounds like your Target has a WAY better selection than the ones in my area. Thanks for the suggestions, Emily!
How about Kiss My Face products?
Thanks for suggesting them, Caitlin! I didn’t know they were sold at Target. I’ve added them to this list now. 🙂
Physician’s Formula too!
I don’t know how I missed them. Thanks, Monica!
Their black liquid liner is the best!!
